RUSH 300 – A route that challenges and rewards you
The starting shot is fired at 6 a.m. in Saalfelden – the day awakens, the air is cool and the tension is in the air. There’s not much time to wake up, because after just a few kilometers it’s down to business:
The long descent to St. Johann im Pongau gives you the opportunity to loosen up your legs before the last big climb. One last time in the cradle, one last time gritting your teeth.
The route winds its way through the Lammertal valley, past steep rock faces and rustic Alpine pastures, while the Tennengebirge mountains form the backdrop to the left and right. Up and down, bend after bend – the muscles burn, the will counts.
Lakes panorama
After the first challenge, it’s time to find your rhythm, let it roll and enjoy. After Lake Hallstatt, the landscape opens up and a pearl necklace of deep blue lakes passes us by. Wolfgangsee, Fuschlsee, Wallersee and finally Obertrumer See – every bend reveals new, breathtaking views. The profile is undulating, challenging, but leaves room to breathe. Passing Salzburg, you reach the toughest test of the day, the Hirschbichl.
The endurance test
Shortly before the end, one of the steepest climbs of the day challenges you. The road winds its way through dense forests, while the evening sun slowly sets over the peaks of the Berchtesgadener Land. The view opens up with every meter of ascent – and suddenly it is in front of you: the majestic Watzmann, a sight that almost makes you forget the burning climb.
But then it’s done – the last few kilometers to Saalfelden are flat and fast. Thoughts wander back over the past few hours: the climbs, the low points, the incredible moments – the first endurance test
And then the time has come: the finish in Saalfelden. 300 km, 4,000 vertical meters – and a story you will never forget.
